The G-77 is the largest intergovernmental forum of developing countries in the United Nations system, and as such provides the means for the countries of the South to articulate and promote their collective economic interests.

G-77 or Group of 77 refers to the seventy-seven developing countries that did not benefit from the fast growth western economies experienced in 1950s and 1960s. So they organized themselves into G-77. They demanded :i A new international economic order that would give them real control over their natural resources.

For the year 2024, the Republic of Uganda holds the Chairmanship of the G-77 in New York. The South Summit is the supreme decision-making body of the Group of 77.
