Apart from everything else, at over two hours long, The Dark World also overstays its welcome. The film's pacing feels sluggish at times, making it an absolute chore to sit through. The comedic moments aimed at lightening the mood often fall flat, leaving the audience with a sense of cringe rather than laughter.

The film was directed by Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Christopher Yost and the writing team of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

In addition to the violent scenes and scary visual images mentioned above, Thor: The Dark World has some scenes that could scare or disturb children aged 5-8 years. For example, in one emotionally intense scene a dead woman lies in the bottom of a funeral boat.

The "final" scene of Dark World sees Thor abdicate the throne. He tells Odin that he's not really fit to be King. In fact, he admits that he was never the right brother: The apparently-(but-c'mon-)deceased Loki was a better fit.
